POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Fine Paint Finisher to perform premium-quality interior and exterior painting within high-end residential environments. This position requires a highly skilled craftsperson with exceptional attention to surface preparation, finish quality, cleanliness, and detail.The ideal candidate understands that fine painting is not simply the application of paint. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Surface Preparation- Prepare substrates through proper cleaning, scraping, sanding, filling, patching, caulking, priming, and spot preparation.
- Understand proper coating systems and compatibility between substrates, primers, and finish materials.
- Perform high-quality interior and exterior painting on walls, ceilings, trim, doors, cabinetry, millwork, and architectural details.
- Produce exceptionally smooth, consistent finishes with clean lines, uniform sheen, and minimal visible brush or roller texture.
- Execute brush, roller, and spray applications as appropriate to the substrate and specified finish.
- Work confidently with premium waterborne and solvent-based coatings, primers, enamels, stains, and clear finishes.
- Match existing paint colors, sheen levels, and finish appearance when performing repairs or selective restoration.
- Perform detailed preparation and finishing of fine millwork, doors, cabinetry, baseboards, crown moldings, and other architectural elements.
- Protect adjacent finished surfaces, furnishings, flooring, hardware, stone, glass, and other architectural materials.
- Maintain an exceptionally clean and organized work environment, particularly within occupied residences.
- Identify substrate or existing-finish conditions that may affect the final result and communicate concerns before proceeding.
- Perform punch-list corrections and final touch-ups to a high standard.
- Follow project specifications, approved samples, manufacturer requirements, and direction from project supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years of professional fine-painting experience, preferably within luxury residential, museum-quality, hospitality, or similarly demanding environments.
- Strong knowledge of surface preparation and premium architectural coating systems.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high-level finishes on walls, ceilings, trim, millwork, cabinetry, and doors.
- Excellent cutting, brushing, rolling, sanding, and finishing skills.
- Spray-finishing experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to recognize imperfections under critical lighting and correct them appropriately.
- Strong understanding of jobsite protection and cleanliness.
- Comfortable working in occupied residences around valuable furnishings, artwork, and architectural finishes.
- Reliable, professional, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively with project managers, supervisors, designers, and other trades.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Fine Paint Finisher is frequently exposed to paint fumes, solvents, and airborne particles, and must work safely around ladders, ladders jacks, and scaffolding in both active construction sites and occupied luxury residences. This role requires close attention to detail under varied and critical lighting conditions to identify and correct surface imperfections, and regularly involves working in close proximity to fine furnishings, artwork, and finished architectural surfaces that require careful protection.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands of this position include standing, kneeling, and reaching for extended periods, climbing and working from ladders or scaffolding, and performing precise, repetitive hand and arm movements over sustained durations. The role requires strong manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to lift and carry painting equipment and materials, along with strong visual acuity to detect fine surface imperfections and ensure consistent finish quality.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
